Set up LCD TV with XBMC HD

  • Hi,

Hope you might be able to help.

I've just bought a Samsung LCD TV: LE-32R87BD (pictures here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513376&highlight=32+lcd)

I want to be able to plug in the Xbox so it is displayed in HD (720p and 1080i if I convert to NTSC) and believe I can do that via component in.

I've been on the lookout for one of the original Microsoft HD Packs (either with box or without) but can't find them anywhere so was looking at the Monster Component Gamelink 400 X which I understand is just as good as the Microsoft Pack.

I don't have surround sound (yet) so don't have a need for the optical cabling (Monster Lightwave 100 X), but would like to setup my Hi-Fi to take the sound which would otherwise be projected through the TV.

Given that the Monster cable will be too short to take direct to the Hi-Fi as well as the TV, will it still work if I take audio from the audio out on the TV to the Hi-Fi? Will I lose much in terms of audio?

Also, do anyone have any experience of the Monster cables - a worthwhile investment?

Hope this makes sense! Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

  • Yes, it will still work if you take analog audio out from the TV to the receiver on the proviso that your TV passes the audio through. Some don't.

One presumes, however, that there's some sort of separate analog and/or digital out on the monster interface that you could then take to your hifi, or you could simply extend the cable.
