But in your case, I would NOT recommend using a nikon speedlight on your canon SLR. You could fry the circuitry that controls flash exposure, and like any other integrated system (like the TV/VCR combos), you could trash the whole camera by losing one part of its functionality. At this point, the only thing you could try is firing the speedlight off shoe by using a hotshoe-to-PC sync adapter, or on shoe with a hotshoe voltage regulator like those made by wein, for your specific model camera. The wein adaptors have their own voltage steppers that can safe your cameras hotshoe from any speedlight.
