  • Hi,

    I recently ordered vbulletin but still waiting confirmation. While im waiting, I was wondering if vbulletin boards had a way of allowing the owner/administrator to add a small icon under certain member's names? What I have in mind is to reward those members that have donated money to my site with a small icon to show everyone that they support the site.

    Is this possible?

  • I didnt mean that at all. I meant is there a way to have an image change based off of the number of posts. Basically have an image associated with the user group.


  • This doesn't require hacking. Just create a custom profile field that is hidden (meaning only Admins can access and change it) then use this field in your postbit template.

  • For vBulletin 2, you would have to inquire at vbulletin.org

    However, I believe vBulletin 3 does have this function.. Correct me if Im wrong...

    Not in vBulletin 2.X.X... 3.0 includes this feature though and calls it Ranks.

    Started my board up yesterday and im already working it like a pro. This vbulletin board is very well done! Hats off to the designers. :cool:


  • Thats cool. Thats one feature I missed from the other boards I used. I will be glad to see User Titles go away.

    Now would I be able to make a custom filed that is showed everywhere and use conditions so basically if they have a certain user title it displays a certain rank? Is that possible with vb2?

    The member title? Yes, click on User Titles in the Admin Control Panel. You can set them up there.

    This will be expanded in vBulletin 3.0 where you can assign images based on length of time registered, posts, and reputation.

  • Ohh ok, its just bad to use HTML isn't it? Security problem? If the Administrator of the board uses HTML in a profile field, they are the ones responsible for the risk and it is their choice to make.

    Allowing your user's to use HTML is a large security risk and we restrict it where in those places we feel it is not ever necessary and allow the Admin to decide in other places. However, we always recommend that you leave HTML off completely and allow your members to use vBCode in posts and signatures as prudent.
