Here's my situation. I am getting married in December and plan on going to New Zealand for two weeks. We would like to fly in Business Class but aren't sure the best way to go about it. Perhaps some of you can help us out with the cheapest way to get there (coach upgrade, pay for one, get one free, etc.) We have the following miles approx. 100,000 Delta 72000 American 13000 united 22000 american express which can go to united. Right now the cheapest way I have devised is to buy one one business class on american with an AA credit card (7500+13000 miles) which will get us close. Then, with a few months of business expenses, rent, and everything for the wedding on the card we should be able to get to 105,000. Any other thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, RichCX is a great airline and has some wonderful specials on AA awards. If you're a Canadian AA member or have at least a postal address in Canada then it'll cost you a mere 37,000 miles per person to get to AKL via HKG and back. If you're a US member then it'll cost you 55,000 miles.Help getting to NZ
==================
1. Walk to the Pacific coast (pref Malibu beach)
2. Start swimming toward NZOnce you get there, I wonder how far it is to Old Zealand? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gifRcr@nyc:
Welcome aboard!
I agree with Wombat18 that award seats or upgrades are pretty hard to get around Christmas/New Year. Instead of this, I would recommend something different.
Do you mind travelling on Aerolineas Argentinas tix? They have some GREAT deals between AKL and NYC (also LAX, I think). Now, if you plan everything right then you can get an AA flight from NYC-EZE and a QF flight from EZE-AKL!! It is a dream deal IMO since the fare in biz is 4 times cheaper than AA or QF! And still you'll be flying AA and QF! Check it out.Good luck finding seats in December - they can be real hard to find !! If you find one this month, then snap them up as they will go fast.
If you fly before December 15 you will have the best chances, although Business class can be hard at anytime of the year. Similarly, if you fly after Jan.4 you up your chances.
Christmas is the main family get together in Australia and New Zealand, and many flights are booked solid with paying customers up to 10 months in advance.
Let us all know how you get on, eh ?I used Cathay Pacific last year to get to Sydney, they are an excellent Business class airline. They make a stop in Hong Kong, but it's worth it, see Hong Kong for 12 hours and then hop on the plane over to AKL or wherever you are headed.
Also consider transfering your Amex points into TWA and hope that the AA deal goes through (seems likely at this point). Then your TWA miles become AA miles.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
