Need advice on lounge use with international flight

  • I will be travelling from DFW to HKG next month. I have already upgraded to business class on the AA portion between DFW and NRT, but I was told by the Platinum desk and the customer service department that they don't have any upgrade award on the JAL portion between NRT and HKG.
    Here are my questions:

    1) Does anyone know if I can upgrade to business class on JAL portion between NRT and HKG? I currently have a M fare ticket.

    2) If I have to stay at economy class on JAL, does anyone know if I could use any of the oneworld lounges in NRT or HKG? Bear in mind that I will be connecting on JAL marketed and operated flight between NRT and HKG. By the way, the Admiral club in NRT is out of the question for me when I am connecting flight to HKG since the lounge is located at a different terminal in NRT. And they don't have Admiral club in HKG. By the way, I am a platinum member with AA.

    I would really appreciate any advice or help out in this site. Thanks a lot.

    Can't upgrade on JAL flights with AA miles -actually I don't know any airlines other than AA where you can upgrade using AA miles.

  • Actually, the answer to #2 is no. Sorry... JAL is not part of OneWorld. The answer to #1 is no as well. Sorry again... You have to be a JAL FFP member and have to use your own miles to upgrade for a JAL flight.
