IMDB scraping and only a few movies
I can live without it (I know what movies I acquired ) but it used to be so darned wife/kid friendly and "ADMINISTRATION" free...
You can lookup movie info on either files or folders (assuming you've already set content ofcourse!)
Again, Thanx for the help...
Which is unfortunately the situation I'm in with about 120 movies on my PC that I'm accessing from XBOX via SMB.. :sniffle:
The fileserver has not changed. XP Pro, NTFS, etc. Some of the files (my Black Adder and Hitchhikers Guide) have been on the server since I put it together. The only change was to a more recent XBMC build... Unfortunately after I tested it on one XBOX I upgraded the other two before noticing this problem. I believe the version I replaced was late Feb/early March.
BTW I don't think I said this previously but great but of SW....
I can set content type and get IMBD info on files on the local XBOX hard drive but cannot perform the same actions on files/folders on a SMB Network share.
Under the new setup I have to create a folder, name the folder after the movie, drop the file in the folder, do a white button on the folder... Not a big deal but this takes away from the simplicity of earlier builds.
It still works the old way for Music. I can highlight any individual tune, select the white button and pick Album information. This is no longer possible in Videos. Only works on folders.
thanx for the help anyway...
Maybe its not by design then? I hadn't updated in a couple or three months so possibly a T3CH problem. I will get the next package later today and see...
Thanx for your help...
In my case, this problem was resolved when I made a backup of my sources.xml (and keymap.xml since I customized mine) from the UserData folder. Then deleted my userdata folder, and restored it from the latest T3CH build. Then I re-copied in my sources.xml and keymap.xml, manually reset all of my system settings, and voila! Now when pressing the white button I was able to scan the whole folder to rebuild the database and download thumbnails again.
Obviously it was something from my old builds' db or settings which prevented this function from working correctly on the current build, but once it was all purged, no more problem.
Hope this helps
I took some time this afternoon and tried another share on another XP machine and move a file up to my linux Office Server (ARM based Samba 2.0.7)... Same result.
I also tried the 4/15 T3CH, did a clean install (format x,y,z, cleared cache, deleted XBMC folder) and tried that in conjunction with the above. No change
Everything (Movie info, Resume, etc) works exactly like it should but "Movie Information" only works on the folder (unless local to the xbox). As I said when I started this thread, I thought it was a design philosphy change. I make a folder, drop a video in it, set content on the folder, do a recursive search. This adds the "Movie Information" menu to the folder as well as adding "play" to the folder. When I play a video and halt it, it adds the "Resume" and "now playing" to the menu on the folder. Playing and halting a file adds the "resume" and "now playing" to the file menu but never "Movie Info". I have 4 boxes. One is out on loan and I can't try it but the other three all do this. Its consistent. There are no errors.
Because of the way I use video's it not that big of a pain so I guess I can deal with it ;-)
Good thing its not my MP3's (17,000 and counting)...
All very odd that its only a couple of people...
Anyhow, Thanx again
