» Java dice game app

Hi Ya?ll. I?m trying to write a little Java program that for a dice roll game and need some help. Basically I want a program for a group of people betting on 3 throws of a single dice with $5 bets for predicting the outcome of the 3 throws and an initial starting amount of 35$. This program would use the random number method. Winners would be for 1. all three rows are fives=$20 2. all three rows are same $10 3. any 2 rows are same $5, or the person loses. I want a button labeled Roll that computes the results and the money left for the player and it can be used until there is no money left....... - 2010-03-11

» Pentax?

Okay, so I've decided that once I get the money, I'm going to get a dSLR . Right now I've got an old film Pentax ME Super SE that my dad gave me when I got into photography. I've got two lenses for it, but I'll go over that later. I'm looking at the Pentax K100D, for several reasons. Namely, the compatibility of lenses. I was thinking I'd just buy the body and then be able to use the lenses with it. Here's my problem. I'm not sure of how great the lenses are. I mean, what's the point of getting a camera that's compatible with crummy lenses? I'll just end up buying better lenses, in which case I might look at Canon and Nikon, seeing as that's the main advantage of the Pentax in my mind (that being that I have compatible len...... - 2010-03-11

» landscape photography

i'm currently shooting my exterior landscape photos on program mode, iso 200. on nice, sunny, blue-skied days i'm getting a more "gray" sky than blue. any suggestions on how i can "Blue" up the sky without post editing? i use an xt with a tokina 12-24mm with no filter. i also sometime use my 50mm 1.4 with no filter. do i need filters? if so, what kind? Not sure but i think a polarizing filter would help. Again, i dont know much about this at all.it would be easiest to see what's happening if you posted an example.my skies get washed out sometimes if i'm directly facing the sun. that could be your issue? You get blue blue skies when the sun is directly behind you. The further you turn towards the sun, the whiter they will get (thi...... - 2010-03-11

» omiting 'ka' particle from a question.

What are the rules when omiting ka from a question, I imagine it would be less formal obviously... You can ask someone if they are alright with a simple, "daijoubu??"... in movies I've heard this phrased as "daijoubu da??"... rather rough male speech. How often is this done, if, and in what circumstances can you do this without the grammar sounding clipped? I've had plenty of people ask me simply, "oishii??"... rather than "oishii desu ka?" But... I am amerikajin of course ;)From what I know it's just less polite :S Between friends or family, I suppose this would get u fired when talking to your boss like that :PIf you do this with FRIENDS AND FAMILY only you leave off the ka and put a "?" at the end. in speech you would simply raise ...... - 2010-03-11

» How do I beat this level in God of War 1?

It's the level in Pandora's Temple where you have to swim to the other end of the tunnel before the speeding wall crushes you at the end. I can't swim fast enough to make it to the hole at the end before the wall gets me.You need to drink massive quantities of Jack Daniels which in turn makes you smarter and thus you wil beat the game. God luck and I hope I helpedYou can, you have to. It's really hard. In fact that whole game is really hard but I love the challenges and the story. I never beat the game, but I got real close. » I need help on Miller VS US please?

I absoluty dont understand the case Miller VS United States, even after reading wikipieda. It is so inconsise. Can someone please explain what this case is about, or other sources besides wiki. THanksI read the wiki article and find that it is clear on what the cases intent was - that is: that in 1934, an Act was passed which intended to limit the freedom of criminals in the use of firearms. At that time, gangsters ruled the mid-west, especially Chicago. As I understand it, this case tried to define loosely what weapons are and are not consistent with militia use. However, it later was determined that due to the plaintiffs failure to present a case and the limits of the knowledge of the judges on weapons used by men in service, their rulin...... - 2010-03-11

» Uncle's Wedding

Hi everyone. My uncle called me last week and asked me to take the photo's for his wedding next month. It will be held at a registry office not too far from where I live. He had previously told me they weren't going to have a photographer but just rely on the guests snapshots. I don't think they were too fussy. When he told me this, I asked if I could bring my camera and take some snapshots along with the other guests, he then asked all about my camera..... 'Lightbulb Moment'. I made sure he knows that i'm not yet a particularly great photographer and have never taken wedding photo's, or any other event for that matter. But he seems happy seeing as it will cost him nothing and he will have something to remember the day. Hope...... - 2010-03-11

» "copyright protection" laws within comic book icons"

I want to use comic book heroes in a line of paintings I am making, what is the protection on those images? If it is a satire am I protected?Comic book characters fall under several and trademark and unfair competition categories. Owners do this in order to provide themselves with as wide a protection as possible. In your case you said " a line of paintings" which implies paintings that will be sold for commercial gain. You cannot do that without the / trademark owner's permission and anyone who distributes such a work would be liable for penalties as well. If the paintings are for your own benefit there is no problem. Satire can be fair comment but once again if you are offering the paintings for sale, you must get permission ...... - 2010-03-11

» Congratulations from a plastic Boro Fan

Congratulations on your great start this year. I've been happy for you guys ever since I learned that your Carling Cup victory was your first trophy. Everyone's got to start somewhere. And then when you signed Ray Parlour, just one of the grittiest and most beloved Arsenal players of his generation, I was hoping for a good year for you. Having both Viduka and hasselbaink will give you as fine a pair of strikers as there is outside of the team you've already faced. A top 6 finish can be a curse, I mean, look at Leeds, but I'm hoping you can compete for that spot along with Bolton and Charlton. Obviously, I'm looking for someone else to give it to Liverpool and Man Utd on the chin. So, go Boro!!Aye it's been a great start, and as you...... - 2010-03-11

» Nikon D40X...what is it lacking?

I read alot of threads suggesting the canon over the nikon. I would like to know what the D40X is lacking compared to the Canon XT or the XTI. Are the features of the latter really worth the jump in price? So far all that I can figure out is that the D40x may not have bracketing. It has a much more limited range of lenses that autofocus, since it does not have an in-body focusing motor. Basically, only Nikon AF-S lenses, AF-I lenses (expensive, rare and long since discontinued) and some (but not all) Sigma lenses autofocus on it. Many new, and most older Nikon AF lenses do not autofocus, nor do any Tamrons, Tokinas or other third party lenses. It also does not have a depth of field preview button (which may or may not be a big deal), ...... - 2010-03-11

The Canadian Honey Council is asking for $50 million for disaster relief from the government after another year of bee losses across the country. In Canada, the average loss of hives was 33 per cent last year. Some areas, like Peace River in Alberta and Vancouver, lost 70 per cent of hives this past winter. Hi Everybody, We have been having a lot of fun with our Nikon D80. We are getting familiar with the operation of the camera. But I am still a bit confused by exposure and metering. I shoot mostly in aperture priority mode so I can control the depth of field for the mostly landscape type photos we take. I have played around with the metering modes and usually use the zone metering mode. I think the photos are quite often a bit overexposed. Take a look at the photos here. I think the second one is the best. Its using exposure compensation of 1 step (0.33EV). Influenza season in 2008 for Australia and New Zealand and the region New (29.8.08) Influenza activity in Australia has begun to increase in the last few weeks especially in Queensland and South Australia. New Zealand have also reported increased influenza like activity in the past weeks. Hi there! I'm not sure if this is the best place to hang on this topic. I'm sorry of it is the wrong place. Ok. I would like to invite you to take a look to the homepage of Cazatormentas.Net. We offer to our members and guests an impressive photograph about some waterspouts which took place close to the beaches of Catalonia, in the Iberian Peninsula, only one week ago. Spanish Storm-chasers are very surprised, as today we can see this kind of severe weather phenoman frequently in the last years. Some people think there are much more eyes looking at the sky than before, as the reason by what we can see lot of tornadoes in the present. » How do you treat guinea pig stress?

My guinea pig seems very stressed at the moment, I think it could be because I changed the position of his cage or it could be because I used a different bedding in his cage. Either way, do you know how I can cure my little angel?you need to give it lots of hay and make sure its cage is warm and there isnt too much noise near it. Your guinea pig could be lonely so consider getting it a friend of the same sex. I hope this helpstry some food treats and give the guinea pig a box or something dark for it to hide in to make it feel safe...... - 2010-03-11

The only thing this place was missing was a couple of head stones in the yard. http://around395.smugmug.com/photos/61380012-L.jpgWow, this is just an amazing image. It reminds me of something I read in a Stephen King/Peter Straub novel named Black House. Creepy stuff! I love the contrast in this image. The only thing this place was missing was a couple of head stones in the yard. ....or a skeleton in the closet;) nice and creepy....you toned it up real good :thumbup:nice one... looks really haunted.. i wonder what's inside of it..Amazing......Beautiful, yet haunting! » IE 5.2 for MAC - odd black squares

First off, thank you for this wonderful software. I've got everything working fine but get an odd character displayed in the search results when viewing through IE 5.2 for MAC. The problem seems to be with apostrophes. Safari displays them fine however IE 5.2 for MAC displays them as black squares. The page is encoded using UTF-8. Any suggestions? Thanks. Can you post the URL for your site and tell us a search term that illustrates the problem. Or can you post up here a small amount of HTML that Mac IE5.2 renders incorrectly. ------- DavidThanks for looking. Try this: http://wyliecomm.com/zoom_index/search.php?zoom_query=power+pack Again, this only seems to be an issue with IE 5.2 for MAC. Windows browsers and ...... - 2010-03-11

» When I search in Google or any Search engine, the results lead to me a completely different website. Why?

**PLEASE READ FIRST** I have tried using Adware, AVG and using different browsers to get rid of it. When i clear the Cookies and Temporary Files the search results work for only one search. I have looked in my "Uninstall programs" folder and there was one called "Favorit". I attempted to uninstall it but aparentally it was already uninstalled! I'm really confused what to do, any suggestions? Unlike typical ad pop-ups (stopped with available blockers) 3rd party cookies are entirely different critters. When PC's (personal confusers) misbehave, like pop-up's, going to unrequested sites, goofy warnings, etc.; one step to help reduce annoying pop-ups & unrequested websites from being displayed on your machine is to turn o...... - 2010-03-11

» Who is the best batsman in world?

undoubtedly........... its Sachin and only SachinRicky Ponting has a better Test average than Sachin Tendulkar. He also gets out less frequently and scores a century every 5.78 innings in test matches versus Tendulkar's every 6.3 innings. He also hits sixes more frequently. Ponting's first class statistics are also better than Tendulkar's, where he has scored 70 hundreds and 78 fiftys from 376 innings and while Tendulkar has scored an outstanding 97 fiftys from 400 innings, he has scored just 66 hundreds. Tendulkar appears to have the stats when it comes to ODIs but he does bat down the order a bit in those when the fielding restrictions have been lifted. How many fiftys would Ponting have scored if he batted at four or fi...... - 2010-03-11

» Rock climbing... where should I get my gear (online)?

I just started rock climbing with friends, and I'm apparently a natural. I really love it and want to purchase my own stuff. For now I'll only be indoors. What's a good site that offers quality products? If you're in Ireland or England. Then I'd recommend V12climbing.com, or Jacksonsport.com They're both very good. Tend to have good discounts from time to time. And Jackson Sport has free postage and packaging. There are tons of online stores that will provide good gear at good prices, but because there is so much to know about the gear and how it will suit you as for fit and ease of use, I'd go with Alicia's advice also. You really should be standing there in front of the gear and a helpful person wh...... - 2010-03-11

» Would you comment on a poem about dancing?

Darkened room, bodies swaying slowly to count of one two one two, one two, one two violins move shuffling feet Hypnotized by dead beat's numbing affect most eyes are closed catatonic few remain open glassed over one two, one two, one two Corpse-like bodies won't sit while music's yet playing as long as they move they aren't dead.Sounds like the marathon dances of the 20's and 30's - what a test of human endurance. They were the past time during the great Depression. Maybe they should be started again - to give some diversion - LOL ♥ http://www.historylink.org/db_images/Dan...wow. » How is this joke funny well maybe not ?

JOKE OF THE MONTH: A man is working on the buses in the US collecting tickets. He rings the bell for the driver to set off when there's a woman half getting on the bus. The driver sets off, the woman falls from the bus and is killed. At the trial the man is sent down for murder and seeing as it's Texas he's sent to the electric chair. On the day of his execution he's sat in the chair and the executioner grants him a final wish. "Well" says the man, "is that your packed lunch over there?" "Yes" answers the executioner. "Can I have that green banana?" The executioner gives the man his green banana and waits till he's eaten it. When the man's finished, the executioner flips the switch sending hundreds...... - 2010-03-11

» A weird dream I had. Anyone want to have a go at interpreting it?

Okay, so last night I dreamt that I was driving my car along a country road at night. It wasn't particularly badly lit but it was on a dark night and as I looked down at my dashboard display for a split second to turn my main-beam on, when I looked up there was a massive black dog stood in the middle of the road - like a black labrador, only bigger. I swerved to avoid it because it seemed to have no intention of moving. When I looked in the rear view mirror it was still stood there, not moving. There were no other cars on the road. Anyone want to have a go at interpreting this for me?you want to travel but somethings stopping youYou are moving forward in life towards some destination that you have in mind. You have been somewhat i...... - 2010-03-11

» How to be a ' Good Vegetarian '?

I am 13 years old and have debated on becoming a vegetarian for quite some time now. Mainly my reasoning is because of what happens to animals, and also is it true that being a vegetarian can reduce anxiety and stress? Also, once my brother tried to be a vegetarian and he got sick right away, how can I prevent that?Transition yourself to vegetarianism so that you have a variety of meals you can eat as a vegetarian. Explore the natural foods, world foods, and vegetarian sections of your local grocery store. There are lots of great places for recipes, including the internet and your local library. :) That your brother got sick right away was almost definitely just a coincidence, getting sick now and then as a child is normal. i think...... - 2010-03-11

» Domestic Avian Behaviour

Why did the chicken cross the road ?Thanks for all of your 'wonderful' suggestions :) - can somebody please answer the question !!! then I can pay one of you :) - cheers !Dear Web-Bud, What do you do when you're not sure? Ask Google, right? So I went ahead and asked them - ://www.google.com/search?q=%22why+did+the+chicken+cross+the+road%3F%22&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 . It gave an amazing 16,300 answers! You didn't except that, huh? 16,300 answers (or sites that provide an answer) to your question. I am not sure the question "is there a god" gets so many answers (okay, I checked: "Is there a God" loses with only 13,900 sites that provide an answer, see ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22is+there+...... - 2010-03-11

» A Little Off-beat Humor from Jakarta

Source: Living in Indonesia, a site for expatriates http://www.expat.or.id/info/rats.html I live in Jakarta. It is a huge huge city, teeming with people. People who don't believe in disposing of things in ways that we do in N. America. Where there are sewers here, they are not covered but open ditches running along the side of the roads. Frequently on my way to work I am dodging trash being flung from car windows or open bus doors, along with closing my eyes to get through the smoke of trash fires burning on the sides of the roadways or in the aforementioned open sewers. I live in Jakarta. It is a huge huge city on the island of Java. When people lived and died for spices hundreds of years ago, the Dutch and English and other seafar...... - 2010-03-11

» How do I get rid of stringy roots in garden?

I have spent all day digging some plants out that I have had in my garden for the last 25yrs. They were about four foot high, long green leafy things, that flower only in the spring time for about three weeks, they are a lovely yellow flower, can't remember their name, people put them in their ponds, the problem ive got now is that im left with these awful stringy roots. Does anyone know how i can get rid of them, I want to replant some plants in that area. Thanks in advance. Uk Agent Orange, or Napalm should sort it outyou either rototill or simply double dig like you do when you are preparing your beds prior to setting plants in; you might also want to consider adding manure, soil conditioner, etc while you are doing this; then onc...... - 2010-03-11

» After subscribing, how do you dwnload PC?

An e-mail from PC offered an online subscription for $9.99, which I took. Next thing I was requested to download the "Zinio reader", which took a long time, but which I did, and it is now in c:\windows\desktop. Next an email advised me that the current PC issue is available for downloading, but without instructions how to do this. Trying to find out sent me from one screen to another without results. It is very sad if someone like the reputable PC resorts to such fraudulent sales tactics. Can anybody advise me either how to download the PC issue, or if my computer is not good enough how to recover the $ 9.99. The time wasted of course cannot be recovered. If they would have listed the computer requirements needed in their first email that c...... - 2010-03-11
